How do you clean Citristrip off wood?

Citristrip is a thin film of silicone used to create a water-resistant seal on wood, plaster, and other porous surfaces.

There are many ways in which you can clean Citristrip off wood like:

1. Soak the wood in warm soapy water for about 30 minutes.

2. Use a solution of vinegar and salt dissolved in water (1/4 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup salt).

3. Use dish soap and lukewarm water to wash it off with a soft cloth or sponge.

Citristrip will chemically bond to many surfaces and then break down over time. This can be a problem, as Citristrip generally does not contain any sort of biodegradable ingredient or dissolving resin that would allow it to naturally degrade with normal wear. As opposed to other silicone coatings like vinyl or paint which are designed specifically for indoor use, some homeowners have reported problems when removing Citristrip after dark because of the surface.
